Chapter 18

Complicit

The foursome walked up to Evan’s car waiting for them in the shopping center’s parking lot. Alek was holding the bag of sandwiches they’d just bought. Brennan was looking at his new phone, his arm still looped through Evan’s arm. Luka was behind them.

Evan heard his phone chime, indicating a new message. It made his stomach flip. His balls began to draw up as cold, creeping dread moved like fingers over his skin.

Don’t look. It’s nothing, he told himself.

He slipped the phone from his pocket anyway, just a little, just to see who it was from.

When he saw that the message was from ‘D’, Evan tripped a little. Brennan caught him. Luka did too, steadying Evan from behind.

“You okay?”

“Yeah,” Evan said a little breathlessly, pushing the phone back into his pocket. “Just clumsy.”

He had to look. He had to know. They were at the car. Alek was getting in behind the wheel. Brennan was sliding into the back seat. Luka, seeming deep in thought, had gone around the car to ride shotgun. For just a second, Evan stayed outside the car, and opened the message.

With a soft, barely audible gasp, he saw the photo of himself, at age thirteen. In the photo, he was biting his bottom lip, his reddened dick enclosed in a large hand, which was jerking him as he came on his bare stomach. Evan was naked and he looked... happy.

The caption read, ‘This is one of my favorites. Miss you, Ev.’

“You coming?” Luka called from inside the car. They were waiting on him, looking at him. But all of the blood had drained right out of Evan’s body and he couldn’t move.

He tried to respond, couldn’t speak but another moan began to slip out, so he closed his mouth and nodded. Quickly, he erased the photo and the message. Hand shaking, he shoved the phone back into his pocket and got in the car.
